What Do Trees Have To Do With Mobile Broadband? (No, dongles aren't made of wood!)

Here at MobileBroadbandSupermaket.co.uk we love technology – you probably already know that.

What you may not know is that we're all very active outdoor types too, and if we're not squeezing in a long weekend surfing in North Wales, or cycling in the Pennines, we're taking a well earned break for a snowboarding trip to the Alps. There's nothing we love more than being involved with, and thoroughly enjoying, the planet on which we live, and it's pretty important to us that we do what we can to help keep it healthy.

One of the things that we love about technology is its ability to help us reduce our impact on the planet. The likes of tele- and video-conferencing, webinars and, of course, the ability to connect to the internet from anywhere, reduces the need for us to travel on a daily basis, which in turn reduces our carbon emissions. Don't get us wrong here, we love meeting in the flesh, it's just that we no longer need to travel intercity on such a regular basis, which has to be good not only for the environment, but also congestion levels and productivity.

Why trees? We can count the number of trees that we've planted for users of our site and know that each and every one of them has a real-world, positive effect on the environment. It doesn't get better than that!

How Does It Work?

We've partnered with Mokugift to organise the tree planting for us. When you use MobileBroadbandSupermaket.co.uk to find your mobile broadband service and then click through to the provider website to buy, they inform us soon afterwards and we send instructions to Mokugift, who then get the whole tree planting process underway.

Where Are The Trees Planted?

The trees are planted in various tropical zones around the world, including Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Burundi, Senegal, Zambia, India, the Philippines and Haiti. Research has shown that trees planted in tropical zones are more beneficial to the fight against global warming.

Who Plants The Trees?

Mokugift partner with two award-winning tree planting organisations, who work with farmers and families in local communities. They provide seeds, materials and irrigation equipment, and more importantly, they educate the community about planting techniques that enrich the land.
