Before you get all excited and rush out to buy yourself a new-fangled super-speedy mobile broadband dongle, you should know that this isn’t quite a reality yet.

EU officials have announced that they intend to invest €18 million into the research and development of advanced 4G technologies. Experts believe that these new technologies will be capable of delivering speeds up to 100 times faster than the ones we get now, which will quite probably leave fixed line broadband services dead in the water.

Whether or not these speeds are actually reached, we can be certain that speeds, coverage areas, and reliability will keep improving, and this EU announcement is a very positive sign for the future of mobile broadband.
